SMP Lore Rules
Lore participation is optional, but if you participate in characters, groups, roleplay, discoveries, or official lore events, these rules apply.
1. Your Character ( 1 max per season)
You can create:
Backstories
Jobs/occupations
Friendships & family
Motivations/personality
Smaller personal stories
However, your character cannot automatically be connected to major server lore. You may NOT claim to be:
The “chosen one”
The strongest/most important survivor
Secretly connected to every mystery
The leader of an official organization
More powerful than every other Origin
Your character only knows information they have actually discovered or been told in-character.
2. Origins & Abilities
Only use the abilities and weaknesses officially given to your Origin. You cannot:
Invent extra powers
Remove weaknesses/debuffs
Be a hybrid, enhanced, secret, or unreleased Origin without approval
Roleplay an Origin before its official release
Your canon Origin stays the same unless an approved lore event changes it.
3. Lore Permits
Major character developments require a Lore Permit Ticket. Examples:
Do not start the storyline until it is approved
Corruption/mutations
Major or permanent injuries
Death/disappearance/kidnapping
Betrayals involving other players
Connections to major NPCs or organizations
Meteorite/Threshold Division secrets
Special abilities
Major lore builds
Important recurring story roles
Groups joining official lore
4. RP, Combat & Consent
Do NOT control another player's:
Actions
Thoughts
Emotions
Injuries
Abilities
Story outcome
Give everyone a fair chance to respond. Do not automatically win every fight Consent is required for major injuries, capture, betrayal, or character death. Lore conflict stays in-character. If someone becomes uncomfortable, stop!
5. Groups & Clans
Players may create groups, clans, alliances, and communities. However, becoming connected to official server lore requires approval. Groups cannot claim:
Secret server history
Special powers
Hidden knowledge
More importance than other groups
Major wars, betrayals, alliances, or conflicts affecting other groups require approval.
6. Events & Discoveries
During official lore events:
A theory is NOT canon until officially confirmed.
-
Follow Admin/Lore Council instructions
-
Some outcomes may be fixed for the main story
-
Failed objectives may have consequences instead of being restarted.
7. Content Boundaries
Official lore does not include romantic storylines. Not allowed:
Sexual content
Extreme gore
Discrimination
Bullying/harassment
Mental illness used as a character gimmick, joke, corruption effect, or excuse for violence
Using lore to embarrass, isolate, threaten, or repeatedly target someone
Lore Permit Tickets
Open a Lore Permit Ticket if your idea could significantly affect official lore. Include:
Character/group name
What you want to do
Everyone involved
How it connects to current lore
Any powers, injuries, corruption, locations, or NPC connections
Intended outcome
Confirmation everyone involved agrees
Staff may:
Approve it
Request changes
Delay it
Deny it
Do not begin while your ticket is still pending.
External Server Policy
Do NOT create outside Discord servers, Minecraft servers, clans, or communities based around Cozy Nightz lore, groups, events, or members. This includes:
Outside clan/group servers
Privately recruiting members
Advertising another SMP/community
Sending private invites to bypass advertising rules
Helping manage unauthorized affiliated servers
Calling it an “unofficial” server does not bypass this rule. Serious violations may result in a permanent ban.
Lore Council
The Lore Council handles:
Canon & continuity
Player lore requests
Lore Permits
Lore meetings
Player story integration
They do NOT control:
Origin releases
Cosmetics
Pets
Rewards
Technical mechanics
--- Admin decisions are final when something conflicts with canon, balance, safety, gameplay, or the community.
